CNBC If you are reading this, then you're probably aware of the fact that LeBron James has recently turned the NBA into his personal play-thing. The level of consistency and efficiency with which he is currently performing is truly transcendent. He has become a complete, fully-actualized basketball player, an A+ in virtually every relevant basketball skill and ability you could want. The Platonic ideal of a baller, if you will. Let's Make Up Fake Jimmy Butler Trades

On The Prowl I have thoughts on the shocking-yet-unsurprising news that Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, so let's jump right in: 1. My timely prediction of Minnesota missing the playoffs this year suddenly looks quite prescient. 2. NBA years are like dog years. One year ago, the Butler-to-Minny trade looked like an absolute home run. Butler had two years (plus a player option for a third) to build chemistry with KAT and Wiggins; Chicago unnecessarily gave up the #16 pick in the draft, and the player they selected (Justin Patton) was going to be a steal; Kris Dunn was an overrated bust; #7 pick Lauri Markkanen was an overrated bust waiting to happen; and Zach LaVine was a one-dimensional athlete with a blown-up knee who would now be someone else's problem to overpay. Fast-forward a year, and well, yeah, the LaVine part still holds up, but that's about it. Dunn and Markkanen are promising building blocks; Patton's foot looks lik...

1st Annual Mock Draft, Part II

Celtics Life In Part I, we covered the lottery portion of the first round of the upcoming NBA Draft. Without further ado, here is the rest of my first round, with some selected commentary: 15. Philadelphia 76ers: Jeremy Lamb, SG, Connecticut Word is that he may well go significantly higher than this, but if he falls to Philly here, they'd be foolish not to take him. His game looks like it will translate well at the next level, and he always seems a lot bigger than the 6'5" they list him at, probably because he has a huge wingspan and plus athleticism. In a structured environment like the one that Doug Collins runs, he could be a real find. 16. Houston Rockets (via Knicks): Terrence Ross, SG, Washington I haven't seen a lot of this guy, but scouts seem to think he's the real deal, and since I have Houston going big at #14, a wing would make sense here (since they'll be set at PG with either Lowry or Dragic, depending which way they decide to go). ...
